The Artists Open Houses is perhaps the most colourful and entertaining (it’s fun to peek at other people’s houses) display of local art, taking place during Brighton’s Fringe Festival. Artists of all ages, experience and medium, open their houses to the public and exhibit their unique and original works of art. One of the most interesting, I thought, can be found at the basement of the iconic Embassy Court at the seafront. The Boiler Room Studio is the creative home of a collective of artists called Circus Kinetica.
In an atmosphere of steampunk inspiration, they use feathers, coins, leather, chains, metal, jam-jar lids, even bicycles to create extraordinary kinetics installations and impressive accessories, such as belts, hats, necklaces, hairpins.

If you would like a taste of Brighton’s Steampunk world, don’t miss visiting The Boiler Room Studio, on the Brunswick Town Trail. And if after your visit, you crave a bit of steampunk inspiration, why not have a look at our very own Steampunk Accessories and Steampunk Softies and let those creative juices flow?
Perhaps one sunny day, you may fly over the world, in one of these…
