Last night a few of us from Ivy and Leaping Hare Press went to a talk from the director of Action for Happiness Mark Williamson.
If you haven’t heard of them, Action for Happiness are a charity working hard to get us thinking about what makes us happy and how we could become a happier society. It was great to hear Mark talk so passionately and knowledgeably about the roots of the campaign and the many ways we can all connect with our community and adapt the way we think for a more positive state of wellbeing.
The discussion session at the end of the talk proved that this is a topic many people care about and we all left feeling very inspired!
With the first World Happiness Report launched at the United Nations in April this year and even David Cameron pledging to measure the nations’ happiness, now is the time to get involved.
The Acton for Happiness organisation doesn’t just call on politicians to take action – steps can include anything from doing kind things for others and bringing mindfulness into your day to volunteering your time and creating your own local group.
We will certainly be going to the next Brighton event, which is a screening of the film Happy at the Phoenix centre on the 17th June.
